Whether you're looking for the perfect Father’s Day weekend outing or just want to eat your way through the area’s best culinary creations, here is everything you need to know about this year's block party.
Friday, June 19, 2026: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Saturday, June 20, 2026: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Location: Downtown Des Plaines on Ellinwood Street (conveniently located right between the Des Plaines Metra Station and the Des Plaines Public Library).
Admission is completely free! Just bring your appetite and your dancing shoes.
The heart of the festival is, of course, the food. This year features a spectacular lineup of local vendors serving everything from classic Chicago comfort food to global delicacies. Here is a sneak peek at the incredible food trucks and restaurants you can sample:
Charcoal Delights: Bringing classic, fire-grilled festival perfection. Think juicy hamburgers, cheeseburgers, classic hot dogs, bratwurst, and roasted corn. Don’t forget to leave room for their funnel cakes!
Giuseppe's Pizzeria: A local staple serving up pizza by the slice (cheese, pepperoni, or sausage). Looking for a twist? Try their Italian Beef or Chicken Parmesan egg rolls, and finish off with mini cannoli or lemon knots.
HD Cuisine: Take your tastebuds on a trip with vibrant Malaysian and Asian street food. Highlights include Chicken Satay over rice, Mongolian Beef, and comforting Penang Char Koay Teow (stir-fried rice noodles). Pair it with an authentic Thai Ice Tea!
Karavan: Offering rich, comforting, and deeply aromatic traditional Uzbek and Central Asian dishes. Be sure to try their Plov (a masterfully spiced rice and meat dish), alongside flavorful Chicken Shashlik and Lula Kebabs.
Kona Ice: The ultimate way to beat the summer heat. Grab a cup of shaved ice and customize it with an array of fruity, vibrant flavors from their famous Flavorwave.
Mexico Restaurant: Serving up authentic Mexican street food staples. Load up on Tacos and Burritos (with steak, chicken, al pastor, beef, or impossible meat options), Quesabirria, and classic elote.
Midwest Smoke BBQ: Pure paradise for meat lovers. They are dishing out chopped brisket sandwiches, pulled pork, and pork belly burnt ends. For the ultimate comfort food, try the "Mac Daddy"—a pulled pork sandwich topped directly with mac and cheese!
Que Bola Cuban Cafe: Bringing the vibrant flavors of Havana straight to Ellinwood Street. Snack on authentic Cubano and Lechon Asado (roasted pork) sandwiches, ham croquetas, and golden, crispy empanadas.
Serna's Grill: Famous for satisfying massive appetites. They’ll be serving up their legendary Gyros (available in regular and monster-sized portions), chicken pitas, and heavily loaded monster fries.
The Tiki Terrace: Transport yourself to a tropical paradise! Enjoy Hawaiian favorites like Kalua Pork sliders, Coconut Shrimp, Korean Short Ribs, and tropical cheesecake.
While you snack, you can groove to live music across two different stages! The music kicks off at 5:00 PM on Friday and 1:00 PM on Saturday.
Friday night is a massive throwback party you won't want to miss. From 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Y2K will be hitting the main stage with high-energy pop, hip-hop, and rock hits from the late 90s and early 2000s. Immediately following them, Chicagoland legends Sixteen Candles take over from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM to belt out the absolute biggest anthems of the 1980s.
Beyond the food and music, there will be plenty of artisan and non-profit booths to browse, family-friendly activities, and a beer garden for the adults. (Note: The family area and World Stage wrap up at 8:00 PM both nights).
It’s Cashless! To keep lines moving quickly and efficiently, all restaurant vendors and beer tents are completely cashless. Make sure you have your credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay ready to go. (Note: Artisan and non-profit booths may still accept cash).
Rain or Shine: The party doesn’t stop for a summer drizzle. The event is held rain or shine unless severe weather poses a safety threat.
Easy Parking: Free parking is available nearby, including accessible spaces inside the Library Parking Garage.
Gather your family, text your friends, and make sure you arrive hungry. We’ll see you downtown on Ellinwood Street for the best weekend of the summer!
